*Note, February 2023:
We are currently considering adding equity positions to our Executive Committee via Constitutional change, and working towards doing an Equity Scan of our Association's policies, procedures, structures, and ways of being, and learning more about Anti-Oppression. Please know that we are considering changing our constitution so as to reserve some seats for marginalized communities such as Disabled Teachers, Racialized / BIPOC Teachers, Queer Teachers, in order to establish minimum quotas for participatory representation of equity-seeking groups.
New teachers who are marginalized / racialized face additional barriers to wellness such as racism in the workplace when you're already new and vulnerable. They have valuable insights, perspectives, skills and ideas key to the improvement of our association and to our ability to achieve our purpose of systemic change.
If any of this resonates with you, know that you are welcome on our committee. We greatly appreciate the value that diversity in leadership brings to the association.
